Seattle U women dropped from 1st

LOGAN, Utah — Devyn Christensen scored 28 points as Utah State rallied to beat the Seattle University women 67-62 Saturday night.

The Redhawks (11-9, 8-3 Western Athletic) led for most of the battle for the top spot in the conference, but a late run by the Aggies (12-10, 9-2) secured the win.

Kacie Sowell had 20 points and 16 rebounds for Seattle U. Brenda Adhiambo had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Ashley Ward scored 13 points.

The Redhawks led 49-43 midway through the second half. Two three-pointers cut the Aggies' deficit to 53-52 with 6:40 left. Jennifer Schlott's basket put Utah State ahead 55-53, and the Redhawks were never able to regain the lead.

Seattle U returns home to host Denver on Thursday.

SU men lose

Jerred Shaw led four Utah State players in double-figure scoring with 16 points as the Aggies overwhelmed the Seattle U men 68-46 at KeyArena.

Chad Rasmussen led the Redhawks (7-14, 2-9) with 10 points. Seattle U shot just 31 percent from the field, was 2 for 20 from behind the three-point line and was outrebounded 44-25.

The Aggies (16-5, 7-4) shot 47.2 percent from the field, led 30-19 at halftime and kept the lead in double digits throughout the second half.

Spencer Butterfield added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Utah State, which completed a sweep of the season series between the teams. TeNale Roland had 12 points and Marcel Davis 11.

Seattle U travels to face Denver on Thursday.
