Rave To our bank's "personal banker" who reviewed our account, said she understood how we all have ups and downs and reversed overdraft charges that had put our account into a negative balance. It was such a relief that all I could do was thank her and cry. Our budget is lean since my husband got laid off and it's a struggle. I expected to get corporate policy but instead got human compassion. When I said how grateful I was, she said, "Just have a happy Thanksgiving."
Rant To the person who put their parking ticket under my windshield wiper. I was confused about the ticket, since I'd paid for my street parking. I noticed when going to contest it that the make and license-plate number on the ticket weren't my vehicle. Someone out there's in for some hefty late fees!
Rave To the grocery-store clerk who brought two veterans hot chocolate as we stood in the cold offering poppies for Veterans Day. He wouldn't take anything for his kind gesture, saying it was his gift to us. His thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated.
Rant To drivers in residential neighborhoods that ignore pedestrians waiting at crosswalks. Elderly people and parents with small children don't want to play chicken as you speed to your destination. People live here; it's not a freeway.
Rave To the Seattle Children's Theatre who cast many young actors from the Seattle area (including myself) in ensemble roles for their production of "The Wizard of Oz." We're learning so much and having the time of our lives! I'm so thankful for this incredible opportunity.
Rave and Rant Rave to the people who helped me when my border collie was attacked by a pit bull loose in the neighborhood. Rant to the owner for not keeping your dog contained.
Rave To the staff at Century Link Field who've been so professional and helpful to all the UW football fans who didn't know their way around. Attending our six football games there this fall was much easier than we had anticipated.
