Bumbershoot announced the lineup Tuesday for two key stages: Performing Arts and Words & Ideas. And the names that pop out immediately include:

Ken Jennings: The local Jeopardy champ (and author of "Brainiac" and "Maphead") will host a trivia contest for fellow nerds. Start practicing now!
John Waters: The filmmaker and writer responsible for some of the filthiest -- and funniest -- pieces of pop culture of the past several decades will perform a solo show.
Symphony Untuxed: Seattle Symphony will reprise the kind of playful, casual program it brought to the festival last year.
Eric Erlandson: The former guitarist of Hole discusses his book, "Letters to Kurt," which sifts through his relationship with Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
Joe Raiola: The MAD Magazine senior editor will talk about banned books, movie ratings, the FCC, the Patriot Act and more.

Atomic Bombshells: Bumbershoot is the perfect venue to sample one of Seattle's bumpiest, grindiest burlesque outfits. (Though maybe "outfit" is not the right word to describe this nearly naked troupe.)
Bumbershoot takes place Sept. 1-3 at Seattle Center and the musical lineup was announced previously. For the full rundown, go to Bumbershoot's website.
