Sorry for the late links --- back home after my 10-day stint in Arizona with the Mariners. Being back home now means I'll try to ramp up the blog a bit in the next few days as spring football approaches April 2.
For now, a few links ...
--- We'll begin with an interesting list of the 48 athletic departments that made a profit in the 2010-11 academic year.
UW is slotted at No. 31 with a profit of $2.3 million, also third in the Pac-12 behind only Oregon, which made $16.4 million and Oregon State ($9.5 million). The report says it also includes private schools, and doesn't list either USC or Stanford, which seems surprising There's not much elaboration so no details on schools that didn't make the list.
--- ESPN.com's Ted Miller lists Danny Shelton as the most intriguing UW player of the spring.
--- Keith Price is one of the five players you can vote for on ESPN.com's poll of Pac-12 Heisman candidates for 2012.
--- Former Husky Khalif Barnes has re-signed with the Raiders.
--- Here's a wrapup of Miller's chat Thursday with some UW mentions.
--- The College Football Matrix examines the importance of returning starters in college football. Because of the small number of games and uneven scheduling (not to mention just the difference in the sport), it's hard to do the same kind of statistical analysis with college football as, say, baseball. But the Matrix site is one that has come up with some interesting stuff.
--- CBSSports.com with a spring practice primer on Utah.
--- Mike Leach would like to see a 64-team college football tournament.
--- Rich Rodriguez wasn't happy about Arizona's first practice.
--- Lots of links from the ESPN Pac-12 blog.
--- These aren't real up to date, but there are some baseball stats for Shaq Thompson.
All for now.
